BlytheTeam Spotlight: Nicole McLaughlin

Nicole is celebrating her ten-year anniversary with Blythe Global this year. She brought her proven technical competence and experience gained from working over 13 years in public accounting with Ernst & Young and RSM. She is a motivated team player and trusted advisor to many private and public clients, collaborating with them on complex technical accounting issues and financial reporting.

Originally from South Africa, Nicole relocated to the United States during her second year in college. After hearing about California’s “earthquake weather,” she was welcomed to the state with the Northridge earthquake that took place only one week after she arrived. She made it through unscathed and began studying accounting at California State University, Fullerton. Eventually she received her Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) from the University of Notre Dame.

Nicole previously worked with BGA President Marc Blythe as a Senior Manager at Ernst & Young LLP. When Marc later launched BGA, Nicole was drawn to the firm because of the diverse public and private company clients, the challenging technical accounting issues, the work flexibility options and the highly experienced professional team members.

Nicole enjoys the ability to balance her professional work with her personal life, allowing her to spend time and make memories with her husband and two daughters, ages 16 and 7. She lives her life by the mantra “always have fun” and encourages her children to make the most of every opportunity and live in the moment.

Outside the office, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. Drawing from her past experience as a member of CSU Fullerton’s tennis team, Nicole has recently taken up pickleball.

One of her personal goals is to continue taking advantage of her career flexibility to travel with her family. She hopes to visit Australia, Greece, Italy and Ireland in the near future.
