I’m pleased to announce that Barry Gershenovitz – a former EY tax partner – has joined Blythe Global Advisors as a strategic advisor for tax accounting. Barry is currently a member of the faculty for masters and undergraduate tax studies at California State University at Fullerton, Mihaylo School of Business and Economics.
An expert in all areas of tax accounting for financial statements, Barry joined CSU Fullerton after more than 25 years at EY where he served major corporations such as Kaiser Aluminum, Universal Electronics, Microsemi, SAR Recycling, MaxLinear, Eldorado Resorts, Del Taco Restaurants and Motorsports Aftermarket Group among others. His expertise helped clients resolve complex issues such as:
- ASC 740 matters related to U.S. GAAP for private and public companies.
- Tax compliance, processes and improvement with respect to tax provisions and SOX controls.
- Mergers and acquisitions, business reorganizations, transactions and entity structuring.
- Net operating loss planning.
- Intellectual property planning.
Barry will bring this wealth of experience to BGA where he will be responsible for advising our clients on current tax accounting principles for complex transactions, compliance and risk, and IT audit services.

Barry Gershenovitz has more than 30 years’ experience in all areas of corporate tax reporting and compliance for all types of public and private entities as a Big Four partner, tax director, senior corporate executive and college professor. He spent more than 25 years at EY in various tax-related positions including tax partner from 2000 to 2017. He currently teaches both masters and undergraduate courses on federal taxation at California State University at Fullerton. On the corporate front, he served as director of taxation at Tokos Medical. Barry is a certified public accountant.
