Matthew Snow is not just a leader and executive director at Blythe Global Advisors (BGA) — he is also a beacon of innovative thinking in the accounting industry. Beyond the typical audits and compliance work that certified public accountants handle, the former Ernst & Young assurance partner thrives on the diversity of his work, delving deep into operational aspects to provide holistic solutions for his clients. His passion for exploring various facets of the business landscape sets him apart from many of his peers in the industry, including those at the Big 4 accounting firms.
Matt’s 30 years of accounting, financial and business operations experience gives him a top-down perspective into the trends and best practices that his clients need to know now. For instance, as cybersecurity presents a growing threat to entities of all types and sizes, Matt has become an instrumental resource to help guide clients through cyber threat preparation, compliance and response. Being able to work as part of a team that provides one-stop-shop services like this to clients is one of the things Matt appreciates most about working at BGA.
The son of a KPMG partner, Matt “grew up” in the world of accounting and finance. He was drawn to it after hearing his dad talk about the variety of industries and projects he experienced. Matt knew that no matter what direction his career took him, the foundation he received studying economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara and his CPA background would always afford him opportunities to do interesting work.
He left EY in 2020 so he could help his wife with her thriving holiday and home décor business, which had moved online because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a busy time with Matt and his three children, Nathan, 21, Lily, 20 and Jessica, 17, all pitching in. (Fun fact: Nathan is following in his grandfather’s and father’s footsteps and plans to join EY after graduating from college this spring.)
In 2023, Matt joined BGA and his former EY colleague, BGA Founder & President Marc Blythe, whom he had stayed closely connected to, along with BGA Partner Kevin Pacourek. He appreciates that his role extends beyond routine accounting and compliance work and that he gets to collaborate with a variety of clients and colleagues.
Matt, who lives in the Los Angeles area with his family and their dog, Daisy, is looking forward to helping BGA expand its presence in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. He is excited to bring his years of experience and extensive network to work for the firm and its clients.
